Syma Mobile eSIM: available or not? We checked (2026)
Looking for a Syma Mobile eSIM? Straight answer: Syma Mobile does not offer eSIM. The carrier only issues physical SIM cards, at sign-up as for replacements, and its official FAQ does not even mention the word. We checked the entire official website on 20 August 2026: zero trace of a virtual SIM card.
In this rundown, we cover the whole question with numbers: what Syma Mobile's official website actually says, the carrier's commitment-free plans (from 10 to 350 GB on the SFR network in 5G, with their secret weapon, data included from 126 destinations), the exclusive comparison of French low-cost carriers that genuinely offer eSIM (Lebara, Prixtel, Réglo Mobile, La Poste Mobile...), the practical alternatives to enjoy a virtual SIM card without cancelling your plan, notably the travel eSIM in Dual SIM, and smartphone compatibility, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel.
Dated price surveys, comparison tables, procedures: everything you need to decide.

Does Syma Mobile offer eSIM?
No. Syma Mobile does not offer eSIM in 2026: every subscription goes through a physical SIM card sent by post, and no replacement path to a virtual card exists. The finding is clear-cut: in our check of 20 August 2026, the word "eSIM" appears nowhere on the official website, not on the plans page, not in the FAQ, not in the sign-up flow.
That is a real marker against the rest of the market: the four major networks have offered eSIM for years, and several budget virtual carriers have joined in, more on that below with a full comparison. Syma belongs to the camp of MVNOs that stayed 100% physical SIM, like La Poste Mobile, whose case we detailed in our La Poste Mobile eSIM article.
No launch date has been publicly announced by the carrier either. Unlike La Poste Mobile, which has promised its eSIM for September 2026, Syma Mobile has communicated no timeline: if eSIM is essential for you today, you will have to look elsewhere, and we show you where.

Syma Mobile plans: no eSIM, but international included
No eSIM does not mean no selling points. The Syma Mobile plan plays on ground few MVNOs occupy: international included. All plans include unlimited calls in France and from the EU and French overseas territories, calls to 100 international destinations, and, on the higher plans, data usable from 126 destinations, far beyond Europe: North Africa, Turkey, China, Thailand, USA, Canada...
Here is the full range checked on 20 August 2026 on the official website, all plans commitment-free and in 5G on the SFR network:
| Plan | Price / month | Data in France | Data abroad |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 GB | €7.99 | 10 GB | EU/overseas (shared allowance) |
| 100 GB | €9.99 | 100 GB | 32 GB from EU/overseas |
| 200 GB | €12.99 | 200 GB | 35 GB from 126 destinations |
| 350 GB | €15.99 | 350 GB | 35 GB from 126 destinations |
On the network side, the carrier rides on SFR coverage, in 4G+ and 5G (explicit mention on the plans page: 5G service "on the SFR network"). Customer service is multilingual, reachable 7 days a week free of charge from mainland France: the carrier has historically cultivated a customer base that calls abroad a lot.
The SIM card itself remains a physical triple-cut format, sent by post after subscribing online, then activated from the website's activation page or the MySyma customer area. Allow for postal delays before having an active line: exactly the pain point eSIM would have removed. Note that Syma also sells prepaid cards and no-subscription Passes, again on physical cards only.

eSIM among low-cost carriers: who really offers it?
That is the awkward question, and the table nobody publishes. Among budget carriers, the virtual SIM card is far from standard: each brand has its policy, from free all-eSIM to nothing at all. Here is the state of play verified in August 2026:
| Carrier | eSIM? | Terms |
|---|---|---|
| Orange, SFR, Bouygues, Free | Yes | At sign-up or by conversion, same-day activation |
| Lebara | Yes | Free, all plans, QR code by email |
| Prixtel | Yes | Optional at checkout (except brand-new numbers) |
| Réglo Mobile | Yes, but | Replacement of a physical SIM only, via customer service |
| La Poste Mobile | No | Launch announced for September 2026 |
| Syma Mobile | No | No offer, no announcement |
The lesson of this table: at an equivalent price range, eSIM has become a criterion that genuinely separates MVNOs. Lebara, positioned on the same international customer base as Syma, offers eSIM free on all its plans; Prixtel offers it right at checkout. The halfway Réglo Mobile case is detailed in our Réglo Mobile eSIM article.
If eSIM is your deciding criterion, number portability makes switching painless: dial 3179 to get your RIO code, give it to the new carrier, and they handle the cancellation for you. Your number follows you, with no interruption.

What alternatives to get an eSIM while staying with Syma?
If your Syma plan suits you, no need to tear everything down for an eSIM: Dual SIM lets both worlds coexist. Your physical Syma card stays in the tray for calls, texts and your everyday line, and an eSIM comes on top for the need of the moment, typically travel.
The king use case is travel outside the included destinations, or beyond the plan's 35 GB. Not sure about your volume? Our mobile data usage calculator estimates your real needs in two minutes, activity by activity. The travel eSIM market then counts a dozen serious players: Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, Ubigi, Yesim or voilà, each with its style. To place the positionings, some bet everything on unlimited data, others on multi-country coverage; voilà, for its part, pushes value for money with final displayed prices, an eSIM that is easy to install with an easy-to-use app, and human customer support 24/7. Our comparator reviews these offers destination by destination, with hand-checked prices ranked by real price per GB, plus the current promo codes when there are any.
In practice, when to use what? The Syma plan already covers a lot of ground on its own; the travel eSIM takes over where it stops:
| Situation | Syma plan alone | Syma + travel eSIM |
|---|---|---|
| EU, French overseas | Included (32 to 35 GB depending on plan) | Pointless in most cases |
| North Africa, USA, Asia (126 destinations) | Included on the 200/350 GB plans, capped at 35 GB | Useful beyond 35 GB or on long stays |
| Destination outside the 126 | Full-price roaming | The local eSIM wins |
| Phone without a SIM tray (iPhone Air) | Incompatible | Incompatible too: you need to switch carriers |
The rat's advice: Before buying anything for a trip to Morocco, Turkey or the USA, look at your Syma plan first: if you are on the 200 or 350 GB, you already have 35 GB of data included on site. The best travel eSIM is sometimes the one you do not buy; beyond 35 GB, our comparator takes over.
Which smartphones are eSIM compatible?
Compatibility depends on the phone, not the carrier. On the Apple side, every iPhone from the XS and XR onwards supports eSIM; on Android, Samsung Galaxy from the S20, Google Pixel from the Pixel 3, and most recent ranges from Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo or Motorola. Watch out for regional variants: the same model can exist with and without eSIM depending on the country of purchase.
The universal test takes thirty seconds: dial *#06# on the call keypad. If a 32-digit EID number appears with the IMEI, your phone supports eSIM. Our eSIM compatible phones tool lists more than 230 devices, brand by brand, if you prefer checking your exact model.
One often forgotten point: carrier unlocking. A phone bought subsidised from a carrier can be locked and refuse any third-party SIM or eSIM, including a Syma card. Unlocking is free on request from the original carrier: do it before any switch, and imperatively before travelling.
The rat's advice: Eyeing a phone sold eSIM only, like the iPhone Air? At Syma, it will simply be unusable: no SIM tray on the phone side, no eSIM on the carrier side. Check this BEFORE buying the phone, not after: it is the one case where staying with Syma becomes technically impossible.
