How we score

This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.

The eSIMrat verdict

eSIM Card is the provider with the most plans on esimrat: 227 countries, every volume in six durations, two unlimited tiers, and prices among the lowest on the site (5 GB in France for 3.23 €, on Orange). There is an app, support answers on WhatsApp, and the catalogue reaches countries nobody else sells. What costs it points: prices are in dollars, and refunds close as soon as the eSIM has been used. For a common destination, compare it per GB first; for a rare one, it is often the only option.

Good for

  • Rare destinations others do not sell (Cuba, Myanmar, Palau, Yemen)
  • Travellers who compare on price per GB
  • Long stays: up to 180 days, 50 GB over 90 days
  • Heavy users: daily unlimited in two tiers, up to 500 GB

Less suited if

  • You want to pay in euros, at a fixed price (→ Saily or Roamify)
  • You want to be able to change your mind after installing (→ Sim Local, no-questions refund)
  • You want an eSIM that is simple to install and an easy app, excellent value in euros and human support 24/7 (→ voilà eSIM)
  • You want true unlimited with no daily quota (→ Holafly)

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 227 countries, the widest catalogue after Roamify
  • Price per GB among the lowest on the comparator (from 0.13 €)
  • Every volume in six durations, from 1 to 180 days
  • WhatsApp, chat and email support 24/7
  • iOS and Android app, install possible without scanning a QR
  • Tethering allowed
  • Local carrier named on every plan (Orange, T-Mobile, NTT Docomo, KDDI)

Cons

  • Dollar pricing only: variable euro total, possible bank fees
  • No refund once the eSIM is installed and used
  • Unlimited plans carry a daily quota: the full-speed volume is on the plan page
  • No regional pages on their site: a multi-country plan lands on the homepage

How to install your eSIM with eSIM Card

  1. Buy your plan

Buy on esimcard.com or in the eSIMCard app (iOS, Android). You get a QR code, or install straight from the app without scanning it.

  2. Pick your destination

Choose your destination and your data plan.

  3. Scan the QR code

Pay and scan the QR code to install the eSIM.

  4. Get connected

Turn the connection on when you land. That's it.

If something goes wrong

Check that your phone is eSIM-compatible and unlocked, with a stable Internet connection during setup. If the QR fails, install from the eSIMCard app. Then 24/7 support: WhatsApp (+1 407 212 6950), the live chat on the site or support@esimcard.com.

Turn Airplane mode on and off again. Check that the eSIM from eSIM Card is selected for mobile data in your settings. Turn data roaming on. Restart the phone. If nothing changes, switch network selection to manual and pick another operator.

Look at per-app usage in your phone's settings to spot the hungry apps. Turn off automatic updates and high-resolution video playback. Your remaining data shows in your eSIM Card account, or in its app when there is one.

Check your spam folder. The eSIM is also in your eSIM Card account and in the app, from which you can install it without a QR. Otherwise, WhatsApp or support@esimcard.com for a resend.

Frequently asked questions

For a week in France with classic use (maps, messaging, social media), 5 GB is enough: at eSIM Card that is 3.02 € for 5 GB over 7 days or 3.23 € over 30 days, on Orange. For streaming or tethering, 10 GB over 30 days costs 5.62 €.

Yes, eSIM Card allows tethering, provided your phone and the local network support it. Their help centre walks through enabling it on iOS and Android.

An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.

Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from eSIM Card (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.

Only if the eSIM could not be installed for lack of coverage, or after a technical failure on their side with no data used. Once the eSIM is installed and used, no refund, nor for data left after expiry. Requests go by email within 30 days of purchase, 60 days at the latest.

eSIM Card sells data on local networks (Orange in France, T-Mobile in the US, NTT Docomo and KDDI in Japan) and advertises no app filtering.

Yes. Log in to your eSIM Card account or the app, hit "Refill Now", pick the plan and pay: the data is added without reinstalling a profile.
