Our marks, criterion by criterion

3.7From 0.86 € per GB, 5 GB over 30 days in France for 8.60 €: fair, but Esimzon or eSIM Card charge half as much for the same destination.
Coverage
4.6216 countries in the esimrat catalogue and 10 regional zones. Everyone is there, with the same grid from one country to the next.
App
4.2eSIMo app on iOS and Android, site translated into 18 languages with one subdomain per language (fr.esimo.io, es.esimo.io).

Flexibility
3.3Only five sizes, 1 to 20 GB, over 7 or 30 days. No unlimited, no long stay. Optional virtual number for calls.
Technical note
An overview of eSIMo's performance across 6 criteria
How we score
This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.
The eSIMrat verdict
eSIMo goes for simplicity: the same grid everywhere, five sizes from 1 to 20 GB, 7 or 30 days, and the local carrier shown before purchase, which few providers do. Prices are native in euros, so no exchange-rate surprise. In return, the price per GB sits well above the cheapest on the comparator, there is no unlimited or long plan, and support publishes neither hours nor a direct channel. The ESIMRAT code at -20% narrows the gap without closing it. Pick it for readability, compare per GB before paying.
Good for
- People who want to know which network they get before buying
- One-week to one-month trips with moderate use (1 to 20 GB)
- Travellers who pay in euros and want a fixed price
- People who want a local number on top of data (Calls & Numbers option)
Less suited if
- You compare on price per GB (→ Esimzon or eSIM Card, half the price in France)
- You need unlimited data (→ Holafly)
- You are away more than 30 days or use more than 20 GB (→ Roamify)
- You want an eSIM that is simple to install and an easy app, excellent value and human support 24/7 (→ voilà eSIM)

How to install your eSIM with eSIMo
Buy your plan
Buy on esimo.io or in the eSIMo app (iOS, Android). You get a QR code, and the eSIM activates as soon as you scan it.
Pick your destination
Choose your destination and your data plan.
Scan the QR code
Pay and scan the QR code to install the eSIM.
Get connected
Turn the connection on when you land. That's it.
If something goes wrong
Check that your phone is eSIM-compatible (eSIMo has a checker on its site) and unlocked, with a stable Internet connection during setup. If it still fails, go through the help centre at help.esimo.io.
Turn Airplane mode on and off again. Check that the eSIM from eSIMo is selected for mobile data in your settings. Turn data roaming on. Restart the phone. If nothing changes, switch network selection to manual and pick another operator.
Look at per-app usage in your phone's settings to spot the hungry apps. Turn off automatic updates and high-resolution video playback. Your remaining data shows in your eSIMo account, or in its app when there is one.
Check your spam folder, then open the eSIMo app: your eSIM is attached to your account there. Otherwise, the help centre at help.esimo.io.

Frequently asked questions
For a week in France with classic use (maps, messaging, social media), 5 GB is enough: at eSIMo that is 8.60 € for 5 GB over 30 days, on Bouygues, Free Mobile, Orange or SFR. 3 GB over 30 days costs 6.00 €, 10 GB 12.90 €.
The eSIMo product page carries no statement about tethering. If you plan to connect a laptop or tablet, ask the help centre before buying.
An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.
Yes. eSIMo states it on its product pages: your physical SIM stays active and you use both lines side by side on a dual-SIM phone. You keep your number, the eSIM handles data.
Contact eSIMo support with your order number. A plan that was never installed is usually refundable, an activated profile rarely is. The exact policy is in the provider's terms of sale.
eSIMo sells data on local networks (Bouygues, Free Mobile, Orange and SFR in France, KDDI and NTT Docomo in Japan) and advertises no app filtering.
It depends on the provider: some top up the same profile from the app, others sell a new plan to install. At eSIMo, the rule is on the plan page and in your account.
