Our marks, criterion by criterion
Price per GB
3.6Prices in dollars, identical in France and Japan on volume-based plans: 1 GB for 7 days for $4.65, 10 GB for 30 days for $12.80, 50 GB for $40.40. The code ESIMRAT takes 10% off in your cart ($12.80 reduced to $11.52), and 3% of every order is returned as cashback to your Roamix account.
Coverage
4.3202 countries in the esimrat catalog and 42 multi-country plans, from Europe (up to 41 countries) to a global plan covering 127 countries, including Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. The carrier is named on each plan: Orange in France, NTT docomo, KDDI/au, SoftBank, or Rakuten Mobile in Japan.
App
2.8No apps to download: the QR code arrives via email less than a minute after payment and remains available in the customer area of the website, which also displays usage and allows for top-ups. Payment via card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay via Stripe.
Support
3.3Human support is advertised 24/7 via email (support@roamix.app), with an advertised average response time of under 4 hours. On Trustpilot, Roamix is rated 4.1 out of 5, but based on only 5 reviews: too few to judge.
Transparency
3.4Carriers are displayed for each plan, with prices including taxes at checkout. In Japan, three variants of the same plan coexist depending on the networks, at different prices ($12.80 to $17.05 for 10 GB over 30 days), which complicates the choice. The publisher presents itself as "Roamix Inc.", without a country or address listed on the site.
Flexibility
4.0Plans ranging from 100 MB to 100 GB, and unlimited plans with daily quotas (from 500 MB to 10 GB per day in France and Japan, then reduced speed) for your choice of duration, from 1 to 365 days. Top-ups available on select plans, refund within 14 days if the eSIM has not been installed.
Technical note
An overview of Roamix's performance across 6 criteria
How we score
This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.
The eSIMrat verdict
Roamix sells travel eSIMs in dollars across 202 countries and 42 multi-country plans, without an app: everything is handled through the website and email. Its strengths: the named operator on each plan, the same prices in France and Japan ($12.80 for 10 GB over 30 days), and unlimited data with adjustable daily quotas from 1 to 365 days. Its limitations: payment in dollars only, network variants that make choosing difficult in Japan, and a still-thin reputation (5 reviews on Trustpilot). The code ESIMRAT takes 10% off your cart.

If something goes wrong
Check that your phone supports eSIM (iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later) and is carrier-unlocked. Make sure you have a stable Internet connection during the install. If the problem persists, contact Roamix support with your order number.
Turn Airplane mode on and off again. Check that the eSIM from Roamix is selected for mobile data in your settings. Turn data roaming on. Restart the phone. If nothing changes, switch network selection to manual and pick another operator.
Look at per-app usage in your phone's settings to spot the hungry apps. Turn off automatic updates and high-resolution video playback. Your remaining data shows in your Roamix account, or in its app when there is one.

Frequently asked questions
For a week in Europe with typical use (GPS, messaging, social media), 5 GB is plenty. For streaming or tethering, aim for 10 GB. Our data usage calculator gives you the order of magnitude in thirty seconds.
It depends on the plan: most travel eSIMs allow tethering, some cap or exclude it. The plan page on Roamix's site states it, so read it before paying.
An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.
Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from Roamix (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.
Contact Roamix support with your order number. A plan that was never installed is usually refundable, an activated profile rarely is. The exact policy is in the provider's terms of sale.
A travel eSIM gives you ordinary Internet access. Any restrictions (China, Iran) come from the network of the country you visit, and the plan page says so when the provider documents them.
It depends on the provider: some top up the same profile from the app, others sell a new plan to install. At Roamix, the rule is on the plan page and in your account.
