Our marks, criterion by criterion

  • Price per GB

    3.3

Two very different grids: unlimited at €3.95 a day (France, Japan, Europe and UK) holds up, but fixed-volume plans are pricey: 10 GB over 30 days in Japan for €30.95, 5 GB over 7 days for €18.95. Prices shown in euros by the store.

  • Coverage

    3.9

52 countries in the esimrat catalogue, plus 11 regional zones (Europe and UK, Asia, North America, South America, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, worldwide). 4G/5G depending on the local network, named only on some products (Docomo in Japan, SKT in Korea).

  • App

    4.2

Simify app on iOS and Android: automatic install from "My eSIMs", coverage check, and adding days to an already installed unlimited eSIM without a new QR code. QR code install from the email stays possible.

  • Support

    4.4

Live chat 24/7 on the site and email (hello@simify.com), Australian team. It is what Trustpilot reviews praise most: failed installs sorted out by support, including for travellers uneasy with technology.

  • Transparency

    4.2

The unlimited fair-use policy is spelled out: no fixed cap, but speed reduced by the local carrier for up to 24 hours after very heavy use, resettable once a day by support. Money-back guarantee if the eSIM does not work after going through support, full refund for a change of plans as long as nothing is activated.

  • Flexibility

    4.3

Unlimited for as many days as you pick, up to 180, extendable from the app; fixed volume from 5 to 100 GB over 7 to 90 days. Purchase up to 6 months before departure, validity only starting at the first connection on site, tethering included. No top-up on fixed-volume plans: you buy a new eSIM.

How we score

This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.

The eSIMrat verdict

Simify is an Australian brand (SimsDirect, founded in Sydney in 2018) that sells its eSIM in euros and backs it with 24/7 chat support its customers mention before anything else. Its real product is unlimited billed per day: €3.95 a day in France, Japan or the Europe and UK zone, for as many days as you pick, extendable from the app without a new QR code. Fixed-volume plans, on the other hand, are among the priciest in our comparison (10 GB over 30 days in Japan for €30.95) and cannot be topped up. The thing to know: unlimited is subject to a fair-use policy, speed reduced for up to 24 hours after very heavy use, and the site exists only in English.

Good for

  • Unlimited stays billed per day, extendable from the app
  • Travellers who want chat support reachable at any hour
  • Buying well ahead: 6 months to activate, validity from the first network

Less suited if

  • You compare on price per GB for a fixed-volume plan (→ Roamify, Esimzon)
  • You want a site and support in French (→ voilà eSIM, Holafly)
  • You want excellent value per GB with an eSIM that is simple to install, an easy-to-use app and human support 24/7 (→ voilà eSIM)
  • You travel outside its 52 destinations (→ Roamify, Nomad)

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Unlimited at €3.95 a day in France, Japan and the Europe and UK zone, for as many days as you choose
  • Days added to an already installed unlimited eSIM from the app, no new QR code
  • Chat 24/7 and email, the strength reviews mention most
  • Money-back guarantee if the eSIM does not work, full refund as long as nothing is activated
  • Euro prices, tethering included, purchase up to 6 months before departure

Cons

  • Fixed-volume plans among the priciest in our comparison (10 GB over 30 days in Japan: €30.95)
  • No top-up on fixed-volume plans: you buy a new eSIM
  • Unlimited subject to a fair-use policy: speed reduced for up to 24 hours after very heavy use
  • Site, app and support in English only, Australian dollars by default
  • Only 52 countries, no phone number, data only

How to install your eSIM with Simify

  1. Buy your plan

Buy on simify.com (currency selector at the top of the page: euros available) or in the Simify app (iOS and Android). For an unlimited plan, you pick the number of days on the product page. The eSIM arrives by email and in the app.

  2. Pick your destination

Choose your destination and your data plan.

  3. Scan the QR code

Pay and scan the QR code to install the eSIM.

  4. Get connected

Install the eSIM before departure (automatic install from "My eSIMs" in the app, or the QR code from the email), over good Wi-Fi. On site, enable the Simify line for data and data roaming: validity only starts at that first connection.

If something goes wrong

Check that your phone is eSIM-compatible and unlocked, with a stable Wi-Fi connection during setup. If it stalls, the live chat on simify.com answers 24/7, or write to hello@simify.com: the money-back guarantee applies if the eSIM does not work after going through support.

Turn on data roaming on the Simify line, toggle airplane mode for 10 to 20 seconds, and force 4G if 5G will not connect. The help centre publishes the list of APNs to enter if the connection does not come up on its own.

Look at per-app usage in your phone's settings to spot the hungry apps. Turn off automatic updates and high-resolution video playback. Your remaining data shows in your Simify account, or in its app when there is one.

Open the Simify app with your order email: the eSIM is under "My eSIMs" with its automatic install, no QR code needed. Check your spam folder too. Otherwise, the chat resends the code.

What users say

Reviews synthesised from the App Store, Google Play and online feedback. We do not republish reviews word for word: we summarise the trend.

  • ★★★★★Trustpilot

Repeat customer who cannot picture switching provider: plans judged fair for the price, an easy site, and above all a support team that stands out.

  • ★★★★★Trustpilot

A calling problem sorted out with a support agent: the cause was the VoIP app in use, not the eSIM.

  • ★★★★☆Trustpilot

An older traveller uneasy with technology got the phone settings wrong at install: support eventually got it working.

  • ★★★★★Trustpilot

Second purchase after a satisfying first trip, price judged good again; the partner's eSIM had not been installed before leaving Australia.

Frequently asked questions

In France, Simify only sells unlimited, at €3.95 a day for as many days as you pick. For a fixed volume, you go through the Europe and UK zone: 5 GB over 7 days for €18.95, 10 GB over 30 days for €30.95. In Japan, 10 GB over 30 days also costs €30.95.

Yes, on Simify eSIMs. Every product page says so ("Hotspot/Tethering: Yes").

An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.

Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from Simify (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.

Full refund if your plans change, as long as the eSIM is not activated and within 180 days of purchase; same for an incompatible or locked phone, eSIM not installed and a screenshot as proof. If the eSIM does not work on site, contact support during the trip (chat or hello@simify.com): the money-back guarantee applies after their troubleshooting, in part or in full depending on the data used.

A travel eSIM gives you ordinary Internet access. Any restrictions (China, Iran) come from the network of the country you visit, and the plan page says so when the provider documents them.

On an unlimited plan, yes: in the app, "My eSIMs" then "Add days", the days are added to the installed eSIM and start when the current plan ends, up to 180 days after it expires. On a fixed-volume plan, no: you buy a new eSIM.
