Best eSIM for Albania in 2026: 6 providers compared
A week on the Albanian Riviera, a road trip from Tirana to Sarandë or a few days hiking in the northern Alps: in Albania you live on maps, booking apps and WhatsApp, and guesthouse Wi-Fi often stops at the door. An Albania eSIM installs before you leave, activates when you land and spares you the operator shop, where a local SIM asks for your passport and a queue at the counter. You keep your home SIM for calls and texts.
One thing to know before you go: Albania is not in the European Union, so an EU plan does not follow you there, and out-of-plan roaming is billed by the megabyte. We ran 6 providers through the same grid: price per GB, network used on the ground (One Albania or Vodafone), coverage in Tirana, on the coast and in the mountains, support, how simple the app and the activation are, and plan flexibility. The ranking first, then each offer in detail.

voilà eSIM: One Albania and Vodafone on a single eSIM
Both major Albanian networks on the same eSIM, 5G announced depending on the area, plans up to 50 GB, a two-minute install from an app that is easy to use and human support reachable 24/7, for €1.18/GB. Esimzon, Yesim and Ubigi do better on price per GB alone.
How we ranked these eSIMs
Each eSIM is scored on six criteria, weighted for Albania. Price per GB and network coverage weigh the most. The country is small, but the terrain decides everything: the coast and the Tirana valley are well covered, the Albanian Alps and the mountain roads far less, as the nPerf coverage map shows. 5G is live in Tirana and the large coastal cities, mostly on Vodafone, and is rolling out elsewhere; the country's average speeds are tracked on Ookla's Speedtest Global Index. The scores are our editorial opinion, not an average of customer reviews.
- Price per GB25 %
Cost per gigabyte on each provider's cheapest plan, excluding one-off promotions.
- Network coverage25 %
Signal in Tirana, on the Riviera from Vlorë to Ksamil, in Berat and Gjirokastër, and on the Albanian Alps roads.
- Reliability15 %
Connection stability, the partner operator's track record and the provider's reputation.
- Support15 %
Channels available, hours, human or automated answers.
- Activation and app10 %
How simple the install is, how clear the app is, data usage tracking.
- Plan flexibility10 %
Choice of volumes and durations, unlimited, top-ups, tethering.
On these criteria, voilà eSIM comes out on top thanks to its two networks, its plans up to 50 GB, its clear app and its human support around the clock, despite a price per GB in the middle of the comparison (€1.18/GB). Esimzon takes second place with the lowest price per GB and Vodafone Albania stated on every plan, Yesim third with the cheapest unlimited at every duration.
Scores are the opinion of the eSIMrat editorial team, based on the criteria above, not customer reviews. eSIMrat earns a commission on links to its partners, which does not affect the ranking.
The eSIM ranking for Albania
The 6 eSIMs compared, from the best-scored to the lowest. The price per GB shown is that of each provider's cheapest plan per gigabyte, often a large 30-day plan: a small one-week plan costs far more per GB. For Yesim it comes from a one-day mini plan, its real travel plans sit around €0.93 per GB.

Every Albania eSIM in detail
- 7.8/10

1. voilà eSIM
€1.18/GBOne Albania, VodafoneData plans, 1 to 50 GB, 7 to 30 daysBoth major Albanian networks, 50 GB, human support
voilà eSIM is the only one here to combine One Albania and Vodafone, the country's two major networks, on the same eSIM: the phone switches to whichever works best where you are. That matters less in Tirana, where everything works, than on the road to Theth or in the coves south of Himarë, where a single operator sometimes holds the line. The plan page states 3G, 4G, LTE and 5G depending on the local operators, and tethering is unlimited, handy for a laptop or a travel companion.
The price drops to €1.18/GB on the 50 GB plan, in the middle of the comparison: Esimzon, Yesim and Ubigi do better per GB, Airalo and Saily do worse. Plans run from 1 to 50 GB over 7 to 30 days, and it is the only one here, with Airalo, to go that high in volume, enough to cover a month of remote work from Sarandë without thinking about it. The ESIMRAT code gives 5% off, on the promo codes page, which improves the value for money further on the large plans.
It is also the easiest to get started with: the eSIM installs in two minutes from an app that is easy to use, with top-ups and usage tracking in the same place, and human support answers 24/7. The kind of detail that counts when you land in Tirana at midnight and the line will not connect straight away.
Pros
- One Albania and Vodafone on the same eSIM, 5G announced depending on the area
- Plans up to 50 GB, unlimited tethering, ESIMRAT code for 5% off
- eSIM simple to install, app easy to use, human support 24/7
Cons
- Price per GB in the middle of the comparison
- No unlimited plan
- 7.6/10

2. Esimzon
€0.67/GBVodafone AlbaniaData plans 1 to 30 GB, 30 daysThe lowest price per GB, Vodafone named
Esimzon is a prepaid reseller that states its operator on every plan, which four of the six competitors do not: here Vodafone Albania, the network that has rolled out the most 4G and 5G in the country. To know which network you land on before paying, it is the only one here alongside voilà eSIM.
Its argument is price: €0.67/GB on the 30 GB plan, the lowest price per GB of the six, around 60% below the last provider in the ranking. Its 10 GB at €6.88 remains one of the best trade-offs for a week on the coast.
On the other side, the catalogue stops at 30 GB and 30 days, with no unlimited, prices are shown in dollars on its site (the euro follows the day's rate) and support runs by email or chat, in English.
Pros
- The lowest price per GB in the comparison, on 30 GB
- Vodafone Albania named on every plan, before you buy
Cons
- No unlimited, catalogue capped at 30 GB and 30 days
- Prices shown in dollars, support in English
- 7.3/10

3. Yesim
€0.92/GBLocal networksData plans up to 30 GB, unlimited from 1 to 30 daysThe cheapest unlimited at every duration
Yesim, a Swiss provider, offers the widest range of the six: data plans from 1 to 30 GB and unlimited sold day by day, from €4 for 24 hours to €69 for a full month. On unlimited it is cheaper than Airalo and Saily at every duration, and the gap is clear: €69 against €87 and €87.99 over 30 days.
Watch the price per GB shown, €0.92/GB: it comes from a 0.49 GB mini plan valid for one day, useful as a stopgap, not for a stay. On a real travel plan, its 30 GB works out at around €0.93 per GB, which still puts it in the better half of the table.
The eSIM can be reused from one trip to the next, which avoids a fresh install every time you leave. On the other side, Yesim does not state which Albanian operator it uses before you buy, and support is chat only.
Pros
- The cheapest unlimited in the comparison, from a day to a month
- Day-by-day plans, eSIM reusable from one trip to the next
Cons
- Albanian operator not stated before purchase
- Its lowest price per GB comes from a one-day mini plan, chat-only support
- 7.0/10

4. Ubigi
€1.16/GBLocal networksData plans, 1 to 25 GB, and unlimited 7 or 15 daysPrices in euros, French support, 25 GB
Ubigi belongs to Transatel, a subsidiary of the NTT group, which speaks for its reliability. In Albania its best price per GB comes to €1.16/GB on the 25 GB plan, the third best value in the comparison. Prices are shown in euros, top-ups happen in the app and support answers by ticket, in French, which sets it apart from the three English-speaking providers here.
Its 10 GB over 7 days at €14 holds up for a short stay. On unlimited, though, it stops at 15 days (€49) and offers nothing over a month, and it does not state the Albanian operator before you buy.
Pros
- Prices in euros, top-ups in the app, ticket support in French
- Third best price per GB, 25 GB plan for a long stay
Cons
- Albanian operator not stated before purchase
- No unlimited beyond 15 days
- 6.9/10

5. Airalo
€1.28/GBLocal networksData plans, unlimited, regional and globalThe most complete app, regional Europe plan
Airalo, the market pioneer, has the most complete app of the six, with top-ups and usage tracking, and a regional Europe plan that covers Albania alongside Greece, Italy or Montenegro. Handy if your route strings together the Balkans rather than staying in Albania.
Its price per GB drops to €1.28/GB on a 20 GB over 15 days, in the lower half of the comparison. Its 3-day unlimited at €17.50 works for a weekend in Tirana, but over 30 days it climbs to €87, against €69 at Yesim. It does not state the Albanian operator for this destination, and its support, in English, can be slow.
Pros
- Complete app, built-in top-ups, regional Europe plan for a Balkans trip
- 3-day unlimited at €17.50 for a weekend
Cons
- Albanian operator not stated before purchase
- 30-day unlimited at €87, support in English
- 6.4/10

6. Saily
€1.60/GBLocal networksData plans 1 to 20 GB, unlimited from 5 to 30 daysAd and tracker blocker, 24/7 chat
Saily is the eSIM from Nord Security, the maker of NordVPN. The app is simple, with an ad and tracker blocker and built-in web protection, and chat answers around the clock in English. That is the one argument that really sets it apart here.
In Albania its price per GB comes to €1.60/GB on the 20 GB plan, the highest in the comparison, more than double Esimzon's. Its 30-day unlimited, at €87.99, is also the most expensive of the three on offer, its data catalogue stops at 20 GB and it does not state the Albanian operator before you buy.
Pros
- Built-in ad and tracker blocker, 24/7 chat
- Wide unlimited range, from 5 to 30 days
Cons
- The highest price per GB in the comparison
- The most expensive 30-day unlimited, data catalogue capped at 20 GB

eSIM or local SIM card in Albania?
First thing to check: your home plan. Albania is not in the European Union and does not appear in the destinations included in consumer plans, Free Mobile included, whose full list is in our article on the countries included with Free Mobile. Without a world option taken before you leave, roaming is billed by the megabyte, and the bill climbs fast.
On the local SIM side, Vodafone and One Albania run shops at Tirana airport and in city centres, with tourist packs generous in gigabytes. Two constraints: passport registration is mandatory, which takes ten to fifteen minutes at the counter, and you lose your home line if your phone only has one SIM slot. Our rule: eSIM for a stay under a month, local SIM if you are staying long and need an Albanian number for verification texts.
What to check on your phone before buying
Two conditions: an eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked phone. iPhones from the XR on, plus recent Pixel, Galaxy S and other models, qualify; the full list is on our eSIM-compatible phones page. A phone bought subsidised from a carrier may still be locked: ask for the unlock before you go.
Once the eSIM is installed, keep your home SIM active for calls and texts, turn off its data roaming, and switch on the Albania eSIM's roaming when you arrive. The coast, Tirana, Berat and Gjirokastër are well covered; the Albanian Alps passes, the Theth road and some Riviera coves have gaps, so download your maps offline. Every plan in the Albania comparator is sold by providers that show compatibility before you buy. And if your route continues east, the same comparison exists for the best eSIM for Turkey or, further north, for the best eSIM for Switzerland.
