Best eSIM for Egypt in 2026: 6 providers compared

Cairo, Luxor, a Nile cruise, then Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh: in Egypt you spend your time between sites, hotels and boats, and the Wi-Fi is not always there. An Egypt eSIM installs before you leave, activates when you land and spares you the Vodafone counter at the airport, where a local SIM requires your passport. You keep your home SIM for calls.

We ran 6 providers through the same grid: price per GB, network used on the ground (Vodafone, Orange or Etisalat), coverage along the Nile, on the Red Sea and in the desert, support, how simple the app and the activation are, and plan flexibility. The ranking first, then each offer in detail.

Best eSIM for Egypt in 2026: 6 providers compared
The eSIMrat verdict#1 of 6
voilà eSIM

voilà eSIM: Vodafone, Orange and Etisalat on a single eSIM

7.8/10

The country's three main networks on the same eSIM, 5G, a two-minute install and human support available 24/7, for €1.94/GB. Yesim, Esimzon, Ubigi and Airalo do better on price per GB alone.

Price per GB : €1.94/GBNetwork : Vodafone, Orange and Etisalat

How we ranked these eSIMs

Each eSIM is scored on six criteria, weighted for Egypt. Price per GB and network coverage weigh the most: the population and the networks concentrate along the Nile, in the Delta and in the Red Sea resorts, and as soon as you head into the desert or sit on a boat in the middle of the river, the network used makes the difference. All four carriers launched commercial 5G in June 2025, according to DCD, but it remains marginal day to day according to the Opensignal report of September 2025. Scores are the editorial team's opinion, not an average of customer reviews.

  • Price per GB25 %

Cost per gigabyte on each provider's cheapest plan, excluding one-off promotions.

  • Network coverage25 %

Getting signal in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, on the Nile between two stops and on the desert road.

  • Reliability15 %

Connection stability, seriousness of the partner carrier and the provider's reputation.

  • Support15 %

Available channels, opening hours, human or automated answers.

  • Activation and app10 %

How simple the install is, how clear the app is, data usage tracking.

  • Plan flexibility10 %

Choice of volumes and durations, unlimited, top-ups, tethering.

On these criteria, voilà eSIM comes out on top thanks to its three networks, its clear app and its 24/7 human support, despite a price per GB in the upper half of the comparison (€1.94/GB). Esimzon takes second place with Etisalat named on every plan and the cheapest 5 and 10 GB, Yesim third with the lowest price per GB and a best-priced unlimited.

Scores are the opinion of the eSIMrat editorial team, based on the criteria above, not customer reviews. eSIMrat earns a commission on links to its partners, which does not affect the ranking.

The ranking of eSIMs for Egypt

The 6 eSIMs compared, from the highest to the lowest score. The price per GB shown is the cheapest per gigabyte at each provider, often a large 30-day plan: a small one-week plan costs more per GB. At Saily, it is a 10 GB plan, its largest, at Airalo a 20 GB plan over 15 days.

Each Egypt eSIM in detail

  1. voilà eSIM

    1. voilà eSIM

    7.8/10
€1.94/GBVodafone, Orange and EtisalatData plans, 1 to 20 GB

Three networks, 5G, 24/7 human support

voilà eSIM is the only eSIM in the comparison to combine Vodafone, Orange and Etisalat, Egypt's three main networks: the phone latches onto whichever has the best signal, which matters on a cruise between Luxor and Aswan or on the road to the Red Sea. 5G is advertised depending on the network, 4G everywhere else.

The rate drops to €1.94/GB on the 20 GB plan, in the upper half of the comparison: Yesim, Esimzon, Ubigi and Airalo do better per GB, only Saily does worse. On 5 GB, however, voilà eSIM is the second cheapest of the six. Plans run from 1 to 20 GB over 7, 15 or 30 days, with no commitment, and tethering is included. The code ESIMRAT gives 5% off, see the promo codes page.

It is the easiest offer to get started with: the eSIM installs in two minutes from an app that is easy to use, and human support answers 24/7, the kind of detail that matters when the signal drops in the middle of the Nile on a Sunday evening. That value for money, three networks included, earns it first place, even though four providers do better on price per GB alone.

    Pros

    • Vodafone, Orange and Etisalat on the same eSIM, 5G advertised
    • eSIM simple to install, easy-to-use app
    • Human support, 24/7, tethering included

    Cons

    • Price per GB in the upper half of the comparison
    • No unlimited plan, catalogue capped at 20 GB
  2. Esimzon

    2. Esimzon

    7.5/10
    €0.81/GBEtisalat EgyptData plans 1 to 30 GB, 30 days

Cheapest 5 and 10 GB, Etisalat named

Esimzon is a prepaid reseller that plays the price card on everyday volumes: its lowest rate per GB comes to €0.81/GB on the 30 GB plan, one cent off the best price in the comparison, and its 1, 3, 5 and 10 GB 30-day plans are the cheapest of the six at those volumes, the 10 GB under €1 per GB. Every plan names its carrier: Etisalat, the country's third network, on 4G.

The limits are elsewhere. The catalogue stops at 30 GB, with no unlimited and no 5G, every plan lasts 30 days, prices are shown in dollars on its site (the euro follows the daily rate), support is by email or chat, in English, and activation goes through a QR code, without an app as polished as the leaders'.

    Pros

    • The cheapest 1 to 10 GB plans in the comparison
    • Etisalat named on every plan

    Cons

    • No plan above 30 GB, no unlimited, no 5G
    • Prices in dollars, support in English, no proper usage-tracking app
  3. Yesim

    3. Yesim

    7.3/10
€0.78/GBLocal networksDaily plans, data up to 50 GB, and unlimited

The lowest price per GB, best-priced 30-day unlimited

Yesim, a Swiss provider, offers the widest range: daily plans, data plans up to 50 GB and an unlimited offer from 1 to 30 days. The best price per GB drops to €0.78/GB on the 50 GB plan, the lowest in the comparison, and its 30-day unlimited is the cheapest of the six, tied with Ubigi. Over one week, its unlimited is also the cheapest.

The eSIM can be reused from one trip to the next, which saves a new install every time you leave. On the other hand, Yesim does not name the Egyptian carrier it uses before purchase, and support is limited to chat.

    Pros

    • The lowest price per GB in the comparison on 50 GB
    • Best-priced 30-day unlimited, reusable eSIM, daily plans

    Cons

    • Egyptian carrier not named before purchase
    • Support by chat only
  4. Ubigi

    4. Ubigi

    6.9/10

Ubigi belongs to Transatel, a subsidiary of the NTT group, a mark of seriousness. In Egypt, its best price per GB comes to €1.56/GB on the 25 GB plan, in the middle of the comparison, and its 30-day unlimited is the cheapest of the six, tied with Yesim. Its prices are shown in euros, top-ups happen in the app, and it offers one-off plans, monthly plans and an unlimited plan from 8 to 30 days.

For this country, Ubigi does not say which carrier it uses before purchase. Support is by ticket, in English and French.

    Pros

    • Best-priced 30-day unlimited, prices in euros, top-up in the app
    • Support by ticket in French

    Cons

    • Egyptian carrier not named before purchase
    • Price per GB in the middle of the comparison, twice the cheapest
  5. Airalo

    5. Airalo

    6.6/10
€1.85/GBVodafoneData plans, unlimited, regional and global

    Vodafone network named, complete app

Airalo, the market pioneer, names the carrier of each plan: in Egypt, it is Vodafone, the country's largest network, the densest along the Nile and on the Red Sea. Its app is the most complete of the six, with top-ups and usage tracking, and a Middle East and North Africa plan covers Egypt together with Jordan or the Emirates.

Price is its weak point here: €1.85/GB at best, on a 20 GB 15-day plan, its 10 GB 30-day plan is the second most expensive in the comparison and its 30-day unlimited the most expensive of the three. Support, in English, can be slow.

    Pros

    • Vodafone named, the country's largest network
    • Complete app, built-in top-up, regional Middle East plan

    Cons

    • Price per GB in the upper half, expensive 10 GB and unlimited
    • Support in English, sometimes slow
  6. Saily

    By Nord Security, built-in security

Saily is the eSIM from Nord Security, the maker of NordVPN. The app is simple, with an ad and tracker blocker and built-in web protection, and chat answers 24/7 in English.

In Egypt, the best price per GB comes to €3.45/GB on the 10 GB plan, its largest: the highest rate in the comparison, more than three times Esimzon's at the same volume, with no unlimited and no carrier named before purchase. For those who want the security layer above all, on a short stay.

    Pros

    • Built-in ad and tracker blocker
    • 24/7 chat

    Cons

    • The highest price per GB in the comparison, by far
    • Catalogue capped at 10 GB, no unlimited, carrier not named

eSIM or local SIM card in Egypt?

First thing to check: your home plan. Some European plans already include Egypt with tens of GB a month, Free Mobile's 5G plan for instance (the list is in our article on the countries included at Free Mobile), and other carriers sell Africa and Middle East add-ons. If that is your case, an eSIM is only a top-up. Otherwise, roaming outside your plan is billed per MB and quickly becomes prohibitive.

A local SIM from Vodafone, Orange, Etisalat or WE is sold at the counters of Cairo or Hurghada airport for a few euros with plenty of data, but passport registration is mandatory, according to Traveltomtom, and you lose your usual SIM if your phone has a single slot. Another point: WhatsApp calls, FaceTime and Messenger calls are blocked on Egyptian networks, according to Cellesim. A travel eSIM works in roaming mode, its traffic exits through the home carrier, and voilà eSIM advertises "no blocked apps" on its Egypt page; for the others, check the plan sheet. Our rule: eSIM for a stay under a month, local SIM for an expatriation, where you will need an Egyptian number. And if you head to the Maghreb next, the same comparison exists for the best eSIM for Morocco.

What to check on your phone before buying

Two conditions: an eSIM-compatible phone that is carrier-unlocked. iPhones since the XR and the Pixel, Galaxy S and other recent models are; the full list is on our eSIM-compatible phones page. A phone bought subsidised from a carrier may still be locked: ask for the unlock before you leave.

Once the eSIM is installed, keep your home SIM active for calls and texts, turn off its data roaming, and turn on the Egypt eSIM's when you arrive. On the Nile between two stops, and in the White Desert or the Sinai, download your maps offline: no network covers everything. Every plan in the Egypt comparator is sold by providers that show compatibility before purchase.

Install it before you leave, on Wi-Fi, when you have time to scan the QR code or go through the app. The line activates by itself when you arrive and turn on data roaming, with no passport or registration, unlike a local SIM. Allow two to five minutes, the time to clear customs.
