Our marks, criterion by criterion
Price per GB
4.0Very well placed in Europe: in France, 1 GB over 30 days for €2.90, 10 GB over 60 days for €8.90, 30 GB over 90 days for €24.90; the Europe + UK zone (33 countries) starts at €2.90 a GB. Much pricier elsewhere: 10 GB in Japan for €26.90, 10 GB in North America for €37.90. Prices in dollars, the euro figure is the one the store computes itself.
Coverage
4.1173 countries in the esimrat catalogue, plus 5 regional zones (Europe + UK in 33 countries, Balkans, North America, South America, South-East Asia). Carriers are listed on every plan: Orange, Bouygues and Free in France, NTT Docomo and SoftBank in Japan, AT&T and Verizon in the United States, on 4G and 5G.
App
3.5No mobile app: everything happens in the browser. The site's dashboard shows your eSIMs, usage and invoices, and lets you top up or turn on auto top-up. One eSIM is kept for every destination and several devices are managed in one place, handy for families.
Support
3.6Human support advertised 24/7, weekends included, through the site's form and by email (info@getesimpal.com). No phone or live chat shown. A very small outfit: a Vienna sole proprietorship whose founder writes the country guides himself.
Transparency
3.8Carriers, 4G/5G, validity and price per GB are shown on every plan card, and validity only starts at the first connection abroad. Two caveats: the reassurance box promises a "no questions asked" refund within 30 days, the FAQ limits it to unused plans; and the site's price comparison against Airalo, Saily and Holafly is written by eSIMPal.
Flexibility
4.2Long validity (30 days up to 5 GB, 60 days for 10 and 15 GB, 90 to 120 days beyond) starting on arrival, top-ups possible even at 0 GB, optional auto top-up, and the same eSIM reused from one trip to the next. No unlimited or daily plans.
Technical note
An overview of eSIMPal's performance across 6 criteria
How we score
This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.
The eSIMrat verdict
eSIMPal is a very young Vienna brand built on a simple idea: one eSIM kept for every trip, topped up from the browser, no app. In Europe, prices are among the lowest in our comparison (10 GB over 60 days in France for €8.90) and the long validity only starts on arrival. Outside Europe the appeal fades fast: 10 GB in Japan for €26.90, 10 GB in North America for €37.90. Carriers are listed on every plan. Worth knowing: no app, no unlimited plans, refunds limited to unused plans despite the "no questions asked" promise, and only 13 Trustpilot reviews (4.4 out of 5).
Good for
- Travelling in Europe at the lowest price: 10 GB over 60 days in France for €8.90
- Keeping one eSIM from trip to trip and topping up from the browser
- Long stays: up to 120 days of validity, starting on arrival
Less suited if
- You are going to Japan or North America, where it is much pricier (→ Saily, Airalo)
- You want excellent value for money with an eSIM that is simple to install, an easy-to-use app and human support 24/7 (→ voilà eSIM)
- You want unlimited data (→ Holafly, Saily)
- You prefer a provider with thousands of customer reviews (→ Airalo, Holafly)
Pros and cons

How to install your eSIM with eSIMPal
Buy your plan
Pick your destination and plan on getesimpal.com, in euros if you select it in the "Currency" menu. The ESIMRAT code applies to your first payment. The eSIM shows up right away in the site's dashboard, no app needed.
Pick your destination
Choose your destination and your data plan.
Scan the QR code
From the dashboard, activate the eSIM and scan the QR code at home, on Wi-Fi, before you leave. The same eSIM will serve your next trips: you will only add plans.
Get connected
On arrival, select the eSIMPal eSIM for mobile data and turn on roaming for that line: it is the step people most often miss. The plan's validity starts at this first connection. Need more data? Top up from the dashboard, even at 0 GB.
If something goes wrong
Check that your phone supports eSIM (iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later) and is carrier-unlocked. Make sure you have a stable Internet connection during the install. If the problem persists, contact eSIMPal support with your order number.
Turn Airplane mode on and off again. Check that the eSIM from eSIMPal is selected for mobile data in your settings. Turn data roaming on. Restart the phone. If nothing changes, switch network selection to manual and pick another operator.
Look at per-app usage in your phone's settings to spot the hungry apps. Turn off automatic updates and high-resolution video playback. Your remaining data shows in your eSIMPal account, or in its app when there is one.
There is no email to wait for: the eSIM and its QR code are in the getesimpal.com dashboard, on the account used to pay. If it is not there, write to info@getesimpal.com with the order's email address.

Used in Italy and Turkey with fantastic connectivity. Setup was easy and the pricing was a pleasant surprise.
- ★★★★★Trustpilot
Best prices with excellent regional coverage. Multiple data packages on a single eSIM, plus an invoice dashboard for expenses.
- ★★★★☆Trustpilot
Easy setup with good options and pricing. Speeds slightly slower than expected but sufficient; Google Voice calls didn't work.

Frequently asked questions
For a week in one European country, take the country plan: in France, 5 GB over 30 days costs €5.90 and 10 GB over 60 days €8.90. To cross several countries, the Europe + UK zone (33 countries) offers 10 GB over 60 days for €13.90. Validity only starts at the first connection abroad.
Yes. eSIMPal says so on its country pages: every plan allows tethering, for a laptop, a tablet or the family's devices. Shared data counts against the plan.
An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.
Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from eSIMPal (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.
The site's reassurance box promises a full refund within 30 days, "no questions asked". The FAQ is more precise: the 30-day guarantee applies to unused plans, if the eSIM has not been activated. To ask for a refund, write to info@getesimpal.com.
A travel eSIM gives you ordinary Internet access. Any restrictions (China, Iran) come from the network of the country you visit, and the plan page says so when the provider documents them.
Yes, and it is eSIMPal's strong point: top-ups are done from the site's dashboard, even when the plan is at 0 GB, and stack onto the same eSIM. Auto top-up can also be turned on before the data runs out.
