Our marks, criterion by criterion
Price per GB
4.0Upper mid-range of our comparison: 5 GB over 30 days in France for €7.76, 1 GB over 7 days for €3.45, 20 GB for €18.10. Prices are shown in euros, with no conversion on our side.
Coverage
4.6210 countries in the esimrat catalogue, plus 12 regional zones (Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Caribbean, Africa, Gulf, worldwide). 5G where the local network offers it: in France, Bouygues, Free Mobile, Orange and SFR.
App
4.4Nomad app on iOS and Android: purchase, install, usage tracking, top-up of the installed eSIM and help chat. The QR code stays available from the "Manage" page on the site and in the app.
Support
4.2Live chat 24/7 in the app and on the site, plus email. No phone line. On Trustpilot, Nomad answers negative reviews and points to its email with the order number.
Transparency
3.9"Unlimited" hides a 2 GB daily high-speed cap, then about 1 Mbps until the next day: Nomad says so in its help centre and on each plan page, not in the plan's name. Refund within 30 days as long as nothing is activated, but a purchase made with a promo code is no longer refundable once the eSIM is installed.
Flexibility
4.6From 1 GB over 7 days to 100 GB over a year in the United States, daily unlimited from 3 to 20 days, top-ups without a new QR code, tethering included. The eSIM installs before departure and only starts at the first connection (or 60 days after purchase).
Technical note
An overview of Nomad's performance across 6 criteria
How we score
This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.
The eSIMrat verdict
Nomad is one of the big names in travel eSIM, with a broad catalogue (210 countries and 12 regional zones on our side), prices shown in euros and an app that does everything: purchase, install, usage tracking and top-ups without a new QR code. The chat answers 24/7. On fixed-volume plans, Nomad sits in the upper mid-range of our comparison (5 GB over 30 days in France for €7.76). The thing to know: its "unlimited" plans cap at 2 GB a day at full speed, then drop to about 1 Mbps until the next day, and a purchase made with a promo code is no longer refundable once the eSIM is installed.
Good for
- Multi-country trips on a regional zone (Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Caribbean)
- Travellers who want to pay in euros and top up without reinstalling
- Long stays in the United States: 75 GB over 180 days or 100 GB over a year
Less suited if
- You compare on price per GB for a month-long stay (→ Roamify)
- You want unlimited without a 2 GB daily cap (→ Holafly)
- You want excellent value per GB with an eSIM that is simple to install, an easy-to-use app and human support 24/7 (→ voilà eSIM)
- You want a local number for calls and texts (→ Sim Local)
Pros and cons
Pros
- Prices shown in euros, no conversion
- Broad regional zones: Europe 34 countries, Asia-Pacific 21, worldwide 123
- Top-up of the installed eSIM from the app, no new QR code
- Chat 24/7 in the app and on the site, plus email
- Validity only starts at the first connection, the eSIM installs before departure
- Tethering included
Cons
- "Unlimited" = 2 GB a day at full speed, then about 1 Mbps
- Fixed-volume plans pricier per GB than Roamify or Esimzon
- Purchase with a promo code not refundable once the eSIM is installed
- No top-up possible from the United Arab Emirates or India (local laws)
- No phone number, except on the Thailand DTAC eSIM

How to install your eSIM with Nomad
Buy your plan
Buy on nomadesim.com or in the Nomad app (iOS and Android), in euros. The QR code arrives by email and stays available in the "Manage" page on the site and in the app.
Pick your destination
Choose your destination and your data plan.
Scan the QR code
Pay and scan the QR code to install the eSIM.
Get connected
Install the eSIM before departure, over good Wi-Fi: installing activates nothing. The plan starts at the first connection to the network on site, or automatically 60 days after purchase. Turn on data roaming on the Nomad line.
If something goes wrong
Check that your phone is eSIM-compatible and unlocked, then scan the QR code over a stable Wi-Fi connection, or enter the codes manually from the "Here is how you access your Nomad plan!" email. If it stalls, the chat in the app or on the site answers 24/7, and an incompatible device is refunded within 30 days.
Turn Airplane mode on and off again. Check that the eSIM from Nomad is selected for mobile data in your settings. Turn data roaming on. Restart the phone. If nothing changes, switch network selection to manual and pick another operator.
Turn off automatic updates and background refresh: a Trustpilot review from August 2026 describes a Nomad eSIM drained in under seven days by the phone's system services. The Nomad app's usage tracking tells you where you stand, and a top-up is done from the "Manage" page without a new QR code.
Open the "Manage" page on the site or in the Nomad app: the purchased eSIM shows its QR code and install codes there. Check your spam folder too (subject "Here is how you access your Nomad plan!"). Otherwise, the chat resends the code.
What users say
Reviews synthesised from the App Store, Google Play and online feedback. We do not republish reviews word for word: we summarise the trend.
- ★★★★★Trustpilot
Two weeks across France, Italy and Switzerland without a single hiccup; a repeat customer over several trips.
- ★★★★★Trustpilot
Trip through the United States, the Netherlands and India: coverage on par with a local SIM and country-to-country switches without touching anything.
- ★★★★☆Trustpilot
Steady coverage in mainland China, but activation took over an hour after landing.
- ★☆☆☆☆Trustpilot
Two eSIMs for a European cruise: data drained in under seven days by the phone's system services, top-up judged too expensive, no data-saving advice received. Nomad replied asking for the order number.

Frequently asked questions
In France, Nomad sells 1 GB over 7 days for €3.45, 5 GB over 30 days for €7.76 and 10 GB over 30 days for €12.07. "Unlimited" (2 GB a day at full speed) costs €9.48 for 3 days and €21.55 for 7 days: beyond a few days, a fixed-volume plan works out cheaper.
Yes, on Nomad eSIMs. The help centre details how to set up the hotspot on iPhone and Android, and warns that its stability depends on the phone and the local network.
An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.
Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from Nomad (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.
Within 30 days of purchase, and in full only if the eSIM was neither installed nor activated. Once the plan is activated it counts as used; a partial refund is only considered for a proven network failure. A purchase made with a promo code is no longer refundable once installed. Request through the chat on the site or in the app.
A travel eSIM gives you ordinary Internet access. Any restrictions (China, Iran) come from the network of the country you visit, and the plan page says so when the provider documents them.
Yes: from the "Manage" page on the site or in the app, you add data to an already installed Nomad eSIM, without a new QR code. The top-up starts once the original plan is used up or expired. Not possible from the United Arab Emirates or India, possible from China.
