Our marks, criterion by criterion
Price per GB
3.4Prices in dollars: 1 GB for 3 days for $3.20 in France, Japan and Thailand, 10 GB for 30 days for $9.70 in Thailand, $12.80 in France and $14.40 in Japan, 50 GB for 30 days for $35.80 in France. Unlimited varies widely by destination: $16.70 for 7 days in Thailand, $43.00 in France, $102.50 for 30 days in France and Japan. Almost the whole catalog is shown with "30% OFF" and a struck-through price: the prices quoted here are the discounted ones.
Coverage
4.1168 countries in the eSIMrat catalog and 7 multi-country plans: global (153 countries), Europe (39 countries), Asia (16), Latin America (16), Caribbean (22), North America (3) and mainland China with Hong Kong and Macao. FlexiRoam also sells cruise and in-flight plans, which are not in the eSIMrat catalog.
App
3.6FlexiRoam app on iOS and Android: account creation, plan purchases, immediate or scheduled activation, and self-service eSIM replacement (once per calendar year) when you change phones. The same eSIM is reused for later plans. Store ratings: 3.6/5 on Google Play, 3.5/5 on the US App Store.
Support
3.5Support advertised 24/7 by email, WhatsApp and in-app chat, according to the help center. On WhatsApp, an AI assistant (AI Concierge) also handles some requests, such as buying a plan or topping up.
Transparency
3.1Each destination page states the unlimited limit: 3 GB per day at full speed, then reduced speed, reset every 24 hours from activation. On the other hand, no local carrier is named before purchase: the eSIM connects to the strongest network, and the app shows the available networks once the plan is active. The "30% OFF" discount shown on almost the whole catalog makes prices harder to read.
Flexibility
3.3Durations from 3 to 365 days, volumes from 1 to 300 GB or unlimited. Activation right away or on a chosen date, within 90 days of purchase (after that, the plan activates on its own and cannot be refunded). Top up by buying a new plan on the same eSIM, with leftover data carried over on global plans. Refunds only for a FlexiRoam technical problem not solved during the trip, usually as FlexiRoam credit, with a 5% fee.
Technical note
An overview of FlexiRoam's performance across 6 criteria
How we score
This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.
The eSIMrat verdict
FlexiRoam targets travelers who want to manage everything from an app and keep the same eSIM from one trip to the next: scheduled activation, top-ups on the same eSIM, and a global plan covering 153 countries valid for up to 360 days. On the other hand, prices are in dollars, no carrier is named before purchase, unlimited is capped at 3 GB per day at full speed and is expensive in Europe and Japan, and refunds are usually paid as FlexiRoam credit.
Good for
- Repeat trips over a year with the global plan (100 GB for 360 days for $100.00)
- Travelers who want to manage their plans from an app and schedule activation
- Unlimited data in Southeast Asia (7 days in Thailand for $16.70)
Less suited if
- You want to pay in euros, without conversion (→ ChillSim)
- You want unlimited data without a daily speed cap
- You are looking for excellent value for money with an eSIM that is easy to install, an app that is easy to use, and 24/7 human support (→ voilà eSIM)

If something goes wrong

Frequently asked questions
For a week in Europe with typical use (GPS, messaging, social media), 5 GB is plenty. For streaming or tethering, aim for 10 GB. Our data usage calculator gives you the order of magnitude in thirty seconds.
It depends on the plan: most travel eSIMs allow tethering, some cap or exclude it. The plan page on FlexiRoam's site states it, so read it before paying.
An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.
Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from FlexiRoam (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.
Contact FlexiRoam support with your order number. A plan that was never installed is usually refundable, an activated profile rarely is. The exact policy is in the provider's terms of sale.
A travel eSIM gives you ordinary Internet access. Any restrictions (China, Iran) come from the network of the country you visit, and the plan page says so when the provider documents them.
It depends on the provider: some top up the same profile from the app, others sell a new plan to install. At FlexiRoam, the rule is on the plan page and in your account.
